Kyoto: first arrival and last supper

From Ogaki we take a local train to Maibara, passing Mt. Ibuki in Sekigahara. Mt. Ibuki is the highest mountain visible in our photos of Ogaki, and it seems to be the cause of all the cold weather we get there. Train buffs will note the nose of a Shinkansen disappearing into the tunnel in the image on the left. In Maibara we board a Shinkansen for a fast second leg into Kyoto. Note Peter and Zara holding on for dear life.

I first rode the Shinkansen in 1967, when I was a child of 10. I still find it the coolest thing on rails.
